Snow Day? No Way!

The temperature had to be just right and with the moisture in the clouds, something amazing was triggered. As the day went on, I thought to myself, "there is no way it is going to snow." Continuing with my day, a few of my friends sent me videos of where they were at. It was officially snowing in Las Vegas! If you are native to Las Vegas, you know that this literally only happens maybe once a year, if that. So I got up and went on the hunt! My home is not close enough to the mountains for snow to fall, so I had to go there. I personally love hiking Lone Mountain and Red Rock all the time. Mt. Charleston was my go to for this kind of weather. I wanted the full experience. To me, cold weather and rainy weather are my favorites. Don't get me wrong, sunny weather is just as great. So I threw on some layers and headed to the mountain. Traffic was a pain, especially when it snows. When it snows in Las Vegas, everyone has the same idea and rushes out the door if they are free. It was amazing to see everyone enjoying the snow. You can tell the people here truly do not get to experience this often so they take advantage of it when they can. It was possibly the most fun I have had since the year begun.

  1. I love cold, rainy weather, too! I lived in Seattle for five years and I loved the weather there.
Before I moved to Vegas, I thought it never snowed here. The truth of the matter was that it snowed two months after we moved here! As I have discovered since then, when it snows here it usually doesn't go much farther than Summerlin. That first snow, though, we were living at Warm Springs and Eastern and it snowed a good amount. I guess we were lucky?
I'm looking forward to reading about more of your weather tales!

    1. I have always wanted to go up north more. I am just a cold weather kind of guy. Rain and snow make me feel great! I honestly think it has to do with me being in Las Vegas for over 20 years now and not getting to experience much of that. Summerlin is definitely a bit spoiled with the cold weather. That area is right next to Red Rock and I am guessing that has something to do with it.

  2. My family and I were texting each other about the possibility of snow that day too. We were thrilled of the thought of snow. 😂
Anyway, I love the outdoors too. Looking forward to your posts!

    1. Same here, it was a very exciting day! It seems like when snow falls here in Vegas everyone kind of goes nuts for the day!

  3. I don't know what it is about snow fall in Las Vegas, but for me it always brings about feelings of happiness. I don't go nuts but I definitely get really hyped about it. It's like some miracle just occurred. I guess living in the desert where the triple digit heat is expected, snow fall in the city is the curious unlikely event we hope for every winter.

    1. Basically a miracle! With 100+ degree weather during the summer, it very unlikely for us to even see a glimpse of snow in the valley. It happens only like once a year though from what I can remember.
