Flickr Slideshow

Flickr is a very interesting site for sure. It has opened my eyes to how important photos can really be to some people. I too really enjoy looking at old photos and may be utilizing Flickr a bit more now.

I added four photos to my collection to start. Simple photos I have taken in the past of nature. Not necessarily deep in the forest or anything, but nice photos of the sunset, trees and plants! As you can tell, the reason I made this blog is because I truly enjoy nature and the environment. It feels amazing to go out and explore new places. The slideshow below only shows a couple of the many photos I have taken with my friends. Enjoy...

Saksoft RSS vs Atom

According to this article RSS & Atom are both the two main standards of web syndication. Atom is not as popular as RSS and RSS has become a common term to refer to all feeds of RSS or Atom. RSS and Atom are two forms of content syndication. Atom was developed to avoid the limitations and flaws are the latter RSS. Although, RSS is still the main one used to this day. Both forms of web syndication have their own paths in the industry and many will choose one or the other.

Favorite Nature Travels

The main reason I made this blog is because how much I truly appreciate the world and environment around me. Being able to travel and see the world around me, it is simply amazing and astonishing. I like to take a deep breath whenever I go out and just look around at what is around me. It makes me feel some sort of way. There is still so much for me to see out there in the world and I know I won't be able to see all of it and that is why I like to explore other people's experiences with nature. I have always been a fan of cold, artic-like places. They simply amaze me because I have never truly experienced that much snow or cold weather. Seeing the animals and other life being able to survive that environment is also an awesome sight. One day I am sure I will get to experience that type of environment and I am sure I will freeze until my nose drippings turn into icicles. It will be a different environment than Las Vegas's desert that is for sure. Cold places are not the only places of nature I enjoy however. I like forests and beaches as well. You cannot beat a cool sunny day on the beach, but I get to experience that quite often since we live quite close to California's coastline. Forests also amaze me because of how intricate the environment is. There are so many different habitats and many animals and other life to see. I definitely will be hiking more forests in the near future. Comment your favorite places to travel, I would love to hear them.

Recycling in Las Vegas

I have always been curious about recycling and how it actually can help us preserve the world we live in. So basically this post will be about recycling and if you guys have any other ideas that help care for our world please do comment. I have always been told to recycle by the media because it helps preserve Earth and I do know a few families that actually do recycle here in Las Vegas, but I never actually made a point to recycle. The main reason is because the city does not provide the means to recycle. You have to pay the recycling company to come to your house for them to pick up your recyclables. Correct me if I am wrong though please, this is only what I have been told and from the little research I have done. I personally drink a lot of water from water bottles because I work outside and need some fresh water as I am working. I would just drink the water that my work provides, but it has a horrible taste and probably is just from the tap. Anyways, since I have been interested in recycling, I have become a hoarder for empty water bottles. I want to recycle, but I have never made the effort to actually find somewhere to drop these bottles off. The recycling plant is way too far and I feel like if I just throw them in any old recycling bin I may find, I technically would be "dumping." So basically for now I have a bad habit of collecting trash. I do wish the city makes the effort for all of us to become more mindful of recycling because there are many benefits that come from it. I am sure Mother Nature would appreciate it as well. If guys have any information that you may think will help, please comment.

Late Winter

The weather feels so amazing as we change from Winter to Spring. There has been plenty of rain the last few weeks in particular, which is always nice because Las Vegas needs as much rain as it can get. A few people I talk with and I myself all agree that Winter definitely came pretty late this time around. Last year by this time, we would usually be seeing the temperature steadily increase. Maybe it will be the same for Summer and we may have an awesome beginning of the season. I do not  know about you guys, but rainy days are some of my favorite days. I like to take a stroll through the park or go hiking with a few friends when its rainy. Sometimes I even go alone just to clear my head of things that may be troubling. Helps if you need to an escape of some kind.

Spring Fever

So I know it is not Spring season just yet, but I for one get very excited around this time of year. The weather is not what excites me that much, it is the plant life. For the last few years, probably ever since I graduated high school, I have been a gardener novice. Every Spring season, right around this time, I like to go to the local Star Nursery and pick out a bunch of plants to plant. A lot of them do not make it through the whole year, but it gives me experience with the ones that do. The plants that do not, I make sure not to buy them again, till I know how to make them last. The plants that do make it, I like to plot out an area in the garden to plant some more. Last year, I planted some French Lavender and I was so happy that it lasted all year long and is coming back so very strong this year. I definitely plan on planting more and maybe making a row of them around the garden. Plus as a little bonus, the bees love these plants. I know some people cannot stand having bees around, but they are essential to plant life. Also I feel like I am helping their population even though I do not truly know if I am. I have never been stung by a bee, but I feel like if I just leave them to their work, they will never bother me. The only insects that do bother me are the wasps that like to join the party every once in a while. Those are pesky little creatures! Anyway, if you have never tried to garden, even just the slightest, I highly recommend it! It makes you feel good and you have something to care for, so some responsibility is gained as well.
